Columbus for sure doesn't belong in, as he only "discoverd" a land which a. was already inhabited, b. was most likely already discovered by many other explorers/countries, not limited to China, Ireland, and the Vikings, c. Didn't originally discover mainland America d. Vespucci would, quite likely, have discovered America anyways, as he had already asked to go in 1492 e. didn't really achieve much, as most of Europe already knew the world was wrong f. besides, he still never realized that he didn't go to Asia

Why wouldn't you vote for Jesus? He only created you and everything else in the universe... He has and always will have the most impact on everybody despite if you believe in him because he knows you better than any other person.
| Allyson

Martin Luther King, Jr. should be chosen over Jesus for the number 1 snub because while Jesus was the son of God and gave his life for us, Martin Luther King, Jr. is more universally known as an advocate for African American rights. Jesus is highly influential but Martin Luther King, Jr is more globally influential because not everyone believes in Jesus Christ.

definately all the founders of the major religions, Jesus, Muhamud, and Buddha, but i think that if they were included it would be more of a "religion versus religion" thing, and not so much about the actual people. Most people will stay true to who they believe in, and not nescessarily who had the bigger impact. also, i think that Martin Luther should have definately been included. He started the Protestant Reformation and completely changed the Roman Catholic Church. He made bibles, and well essentially christianity itself, available to EVERYONE, not just the rich and powerful. His ideas completely changed the mind-set of Europe, and eventually the whole world. He had a huge impact on history.

Bjarni Herjólfsson is another snub. This poor guy was the true European discoverer of America. He was there 500 years before Columbus and yet does not even get mentioned ahead of the Viking he inspired to set up a colony in America, Leif Erickson. The true definition of a snub.

I think that Paul of Tarsus should be on there. Without Paul going out and converting the gentiles there would be no christianity as we know it. Christianity may have never been more than a Jewish Sect. If it wasn't for Paul we might all still be worshiping Oden and Frig or Zues and Juno or whoever our ancestors worshiped.

Dante and Chaucer don't belong in this competition. Neither had any impact on the course of history. Those 2 spots should be replaced with Marx and Smith. They were both writers but presented opposing economic systems, laying down the foundations of the cold war itself. No doubt these two had a huge impact on the world.
